Supplement 18F: Bass Drum Technique (2-Stroke Ankle-Down Focus) | Part 3 of 3
These examples continue developing the various foot motions, building the ability to play both feet independently and interdependently. Pay close attention to the motion behind each note — the prep motion especially, since it determines whether the next note lands early, late or on time. The ankle-down motion is common in most 16th-note-based styles of music. Keep a record of your progress with a metronome and by recording yourself often (Supplement 18F), focusing on the 2-stroke ankle-down motion and when to prepare for the next note.
