Odd Time Playing and Poly Rhythms

This series of lessons teaches you how to get started with the essential odd time rhythms and then further integrates how to apply polyrhythms using what you've learned.
Chad Wackerman is a first-call studio drummer and world-renowned educator. He has amassed a remarkable body of work, including a seven-year association with Frank Zappa. He has recorded albums and toured with artists as diverse as James Taylor, Barbara Streisand, Steve Vai, Allan Holdsworth, and Andy Summers. His course, the Murray Spivack Method, will give you the foundation for everything you will play.
Legendary drummer Terry Bozzio may be best known for his work with Missing Persons, Frank Zappa, and the band “UK.” He is featured on more than 30 records with three artists alone. He has toured and recorded with legendary artists including Jeff Beck and Alan Holdsworth and is known for his outstanding solo performances and as a clinician. Terry was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame and is known by many as one of the greatest drummers of all time.

Start your foundation of understanding and playing odd time signatures. Chad Wackerman and Jim Riley introduce how to get started with playing in 7. Learn to play in 5 with Peter Erskine. Once you get comfortable with feeling each rhythm, Terry Bozzio and Efrain Toro share how rhythm is harmonic and the concept of playing 5 & 7 together. This segues into more advanced poly-rhythmic studies with Siemy Di.
