Supplement 28A: Applying Flams To Hand To Hand And Category 2 Stickings In 4/4 And 12/8 | Part 1 of 3

As flams continue to be added to previous accent phrases, the focus stays on the fundamentals: keep grace notes low to the head; prepare accents with the proper prep motion; two or more accents in succession with the same hand use a whip accent followed by one or more wrist accents, unless there’s time to prepare another whip stroke; and stay relaxed, especially through phrases that put several notes in succession in the same hand (Supplement 28A). Practice the hand-to-hand (#1–8) and Category 2 (#9–16) flam phrases, separating the hands if needed to study the motion of each.
