His former University of North Texas students include Earl Harvin, Ari Hoenig, Keith Carlock, Jason Sutter, Bill Campbell, Blair Sinta, Rich Redmond, Brian Delaney, and Stockton Helbing. In addition to teaching, he has played with Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Joe Henderson, Bill Evans, Lee Konitz and many others.
