Mike held the positions of Dean of Online Programs & International Initiatives at the Musician’s Institute and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs at the Los Angeles College of Music. Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Northern Colorado and his Master’s in Education, Leadership, and Policy from Boston University. As a drummer, Mike performs regularly both domestically and abroad. His performance credits include clinics and concerts with the jazz-classical quartet Free Flight, Lorna Luft, Wilson Phillips, Nils Lofgren, Diane Reeves, and The Los Angeles Philharmonic, to name a few. Mike’s teaching experience consists of 30 years of private and classroom instruction and several clinics in the USA, Europe, and Asia. Mike is the author of The Drum Channel Method (Hudson Music), A Bass Drum Technique course for Drum Channel.com, and several articles for Modern Drummer Magazine.
