Flams get added to last lesson’s hand-to-hand and combined Category 2 and 4 phrases, which means more strokes in a row for each hand — keep the low taps clean as the flam count increases. Once the phrases are solid, start voicing the accented notes around the kit, and remember that any accent you move to a cymbal gets bass drum support while the flam itself flattens out.
