Supplement 40D: The Single Ratamacue Rudiment as an Etude | Part 3 of 3

This etude is built around the single ratamacue — a drag paired with a triplet that can fall on any beat partial — and folds in other rudiments you’ve already learned. The drag can be played as a tight buzz, in time as a 32nd note, or more loosely and broadly, depending on the feel you’re after. Follow the written dynamics and sticking closely; it helps to learn the etude two bars at a time before putting the whole piece together. Choose a tempo you can perform well, using open double-stroke rolls throughout.
