Final Words Of Encouragement | Part 3 of 3
This brings you to the end of Playing Techniques – Book 2. Across these fifteen lessons, hand-to-hand and Category 2/3 sticking were extended into new time signatures and longer phrases, the flam family of rudiments grew to include the flamacue, the pataflafla and the dragadiddle, open and closed roll technique was developed with clear tempo guidelines for measuring rolls, foot control was carried from the leg stroke through the ankle-down motion, and, in this final stretch, finger technique was introduced as a way to shape speed, articulation and dynamics. As with everything in this course, keep working with a metronome, keep a record of your progress, and let control and good motion — built slowly — do the work of developing your speed and musicality over time.
