Supplement 28D: The Dragadiddle | Part 2 of 2
Dragadiddles are paradiddles with a drag at the start of the 4-note group — a drag motion can also be applied within a paradiddle, a paradiddle-diddle, or double and triple paradiddles. The emphasis can be handled two ways: the first note of the dragadiddle receives the stress while the second is deemphasized as a controlled, unaccented rebound motion; or both notes receive equal stress, which requires using the fingers on the second note for added emphasis (Supplement 29C). Practice these phrases focusing on the motion of each limb, working slowly until you have sufficient control before pushing the tempo.
