Supplement 21A, 21B & 21C: 2-Bar Hand To Hand And Category 2 Stickings In 4/4 And 12/8 With Ostinatos | Part 1 of 3

As before, the accents of the 2-bar phrases are taken hand-to-hand and applied melodically on the drum set, with bass drum support when cymbals are used; some phrases include two single-stroke accents in succession, so take care with accent preparation and focus on limb motion and dynamic range (Supplement 21A). The Category 2 sticking phrases carry the same care, and again require a wrist turn for two same-hand accents in a row rather than a repeated Moeller motion — choose a tempo that allows for proper motions, since speed isn’t the focus yet (Supplement 21B). From there, add foot ostinatos of your choice to all of the phrases above, continuing to build coordination, independence and practical application of foot patterns to the hand phrases — focus on good coordination and maintaining your balance, choosing foot patterns that suit the hand patterns and your level (Supplement 21C).
