From Linear To Harmonic

This course will bridge the gap by showing you how to turn any linear pattern, no matter how complex it is so you can express yourself on it without getting lost as you go over the bar line. Allowing you to play phrases that are familiar to you in one meter, in any meter and not being limited by it. Musicians are mostly used to playing in meters of 2 and 4 pulses, but recently there is a proliferation of searching for meters other than these. This practice is not new as we have examples of western music in many different meters but it has not been as popular as today. Now because of the WEB all these mixtures of ethnic music with western styles are easy to access and experience, though musicians are still playing little patterns and very few performers can really express themselves in these complicated linear patterns. The idea of this text is to show you how to decipher a meter and be able to play freely on it, not by FORGETTING the pattern but by GETTING INTO it.
