The Art of Drumming with Joe Travers & Art Tripp | Pt. 1
Terry Bozzio welcomes fellow Zappa drummers Joe Travers and Art Tripp for an incredible interview that looks into the careers and story of how each played with Zappa. Joe Travers shares his story of being a Berklee College of Music student, getting called to play in the Zappa Band, and becoming what Zappa called the "Vaultmeister." Art Tripp talks about being a classical percussionist in orchestras and later playing drums with Zappa and Captain Beefheart. Enjoy this Drum Channel exclusive interview!

Currently playing in the Zappa band, Joe Travers blew us away with his incredible musical sensibilities in part 2 of this amazing jam with Terry Bozzio. This Drum Jam is a great reminder of how important it is to use your ears if you want to be a musical working drummer. In addition to his contribution to Zappa drumming, Joe has gone on to play for many acts, including Duran Duran, Lisa Loeb, Rich Robinson (The Black Crowes), Billy Idol, Eric Johnson, and Joe Satriani.

Allan started playing Jazz at a young age and went on to record drums on many hits, including; “Tie A Yellow Ribbon” (Tony Orlando & Dawn), “Cats in the Cradle” (Harry Chapin), and “Working My Way Back to You,” to name a few. Allan was also king of the jingles here in New York, as well as touring periodically with Stan Getz, Peter Gabriel, The Brecker Brothers, and more. Enjoy!
