Biography
Jerome Augustyniak was born in Jamestown, New York on September 2, 1958. After going through multiple drummers, 10,000 Maniacs found a permanent drummer in Augustyniak in 1983. He was playing with his punk band, The Stains, and 10,000 Maniacs were on tour in Buffalo, New York.
Augustyniak appeared on their debut album, Secrets of the I Ching, which was released on the band's own label, Christian Burial Music. He's been the band’s main backing vocalist since 1994 and has remained with the group through the many lineup changes.
Two former members of 10,000 Maniacs, John Lombardo and Mary Ramsey, formed another group called John & Mary, which opened for 10,000 Maniacs during The Hope Chest tour in 1990 and 1991. Augustyniak also played drums on all of John & Mary’s albums, as well as for other former Maniacs spinoff projects (such as The League of Blind Women). In 2001, he joined an obscure band called Only Humen.
Jerome has established residence in Buffalo, New York—the same town where he originally met 10,000 Maniacs.
