Occupation: Musician

Stanton Moore was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. With music practically bursting out of every street and café window, it didn’t take long for Stanton’s musical interests to be sparked. Many New Orleans performers, such as Professor Longhair and Doctor John, had a huge influence on Stanton Moore during his early years. These early influences led him to seek a career in music.

In the early 1990s, Stanton Moore met up with New Orleans natives Robert Mercurio and Jeff Raines to form the “steam-roller funk” band, Galactic. Little did Stanton Moore know that Galactic would be his rise to fame. Shortly after forming the band, Stanton Moore graduated from Loyola University with a double major in Business and Music. Galactic began gaining popularity as the band crafted its first record, Coolin’ Off. The album generated interest in the band, and Galactic went on to play more than 200 gigs a year throughout the U.S.

Starting in the late 1990s, Stanton Moore began to launch his solo career. Stanton Moore released his first album, All Kooked Out!, in 1998. His second solo album, Flyin’ The Koop, was released in 2001 and his third, III, was released in September 2006. In addition to playing solo, Stanton Moore has also been involved in several bands, including New Orleans Klezmer All-stars and Garage A Trois.

Currently, Stanton Moore is still playing with his original band, Galactic, and is working on various other projects including the new The Stanton Moore Trio. When he is not traveling and performing on the road, Stanton still resides in New Orleans.
