Biography

New York City native Samantha Maloney received her first drum kit when she was only five years old. From that moment forward, Samantha Maloney's life revolved around drums. Samantha attended New York’s High School of Music, Art, and Performing Arts (FAME), where she studied percussion.

Samantha Maloney auditioned as a replacement drummer with Shift when she was sixteen years old. Samantha Maloney performance impressed the band and they invited her to be a permanent member while still in high school. Samantha decided to forego college basketball scholarships to play with Shift and work as a musician. Shift released two independent albums in 1994 and 1995, before signing to a major label deal with Columbia. They released their major label debut, Get In, in 1997. They proceeded to tour in support of the album.

When Patty Schemel left the drum seat of Hole, Samantha Maloney auditioned for the spot. Samantha toured the world with Hole at the zenith of their popularity. When Hole went on hiatus in 2000, Samantha Maloney filled in for Mötley Crüe drummer Randy Castillo. After rigorously touring with Mötley Crüe for a year, Samantha Maloney moved to Los Angles looking for a change and new opportunities.

After relocating to the West Coast, Samantha Maloney's music career took on many new directions. She worked on a documentary with Daryl Hannah, composed music for the film Run Ronnie Run, and contributed live drums for the film Black Hawk Down. In 2002, Samantha joined Melissa Auf der Maur, Paz Lenchantin, and Radio Sloan to create the all-female supergroup, The Chelsea. The only played on show together before splitting.

After an impressive start accompanying other musicians, Samantha Maloney decided to commence her solo career in 2003. However, in the midst of working on her house/techno/dance album, Courtney Love asked Samantha Maloney to contribute the drums on Courtney’s solo album. After working with Courtney, Samantha joined Josh Homme’s Eagles of Death Metal, opening for Queens of the Stone Age around the world.

Most recently, Samantha toured with Peaches, JD Samson, and Radio Sloan.
