Biography

Etienne Gaillochet is the drummer and lead vocalist of French rock band We Insist! Setting themselves apart from other acts, their drummer sings, their horn section is exclusively two saxophonists, and they are known for their odd time changes. Their sound is distinctively avant-garde rock with a hint of jazz.

In addition to Etienne Gaillochet on drums and vocals, We Insist! consists of bassist Julien Allanic, guitarist/vocalist Eric Martin, guitarist/vocalist Julien Divisia, and saxophonists Francois Wong and Cyrille Mechin.

Their 2008 release (Oh! Things Are So Corruptible) is comprised mostly of songs that the band has been performing live for years. The experience of playing live first and recording them in a studio much later allowed the songs to evolve into cohesive collaborations full of body and subtlety. It is a model that We Insist! has used consistently throughout their existence. Fans can also hear traces of Tool, Shellac, At the Drive-In, and Primus in their music--a clear testament to We Insist!'s willingness to flex themselves musically.
