Joe Porcaro was born on April 29th, 1930 in Hartford, Connecticut. Joe is one of the most recorded percussionist/drummers of our time.
Joe has played Jazz, Rock, Opera and Symphonic genres. Joe has recorded with Jazz legends such as Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Freddie Hubbard, and Don Ellis. He has also made albums with well known artists such as Frank Sinatra and Madonna. Joe has also recorded with Luciano Pavarotti, Rise Stevens, Lily Pons, Andre Kostelanitz, Pierre Boulez, and the L.A. Philharmonic and Hartford Symphony Orchestras. Aside from recording in studio, Joe has also played on many Hollywood film scores for well-respected composers. Joe currently resides in Los Angeles, California where he is the Co-chair of drum studies at the L.A. Music Academy in Pasadena, and is one of the most highly respected drum and percussion teachers in the world.
