Carmine Appice, of Italian descent, is from Brooklyn, New York. He is a classically trained musician, who is now known for his power, showmanship, and personality. His playing is aggressive, his style is hard-hitting, and his role is developing rock drumming is integral.

Carmine Appice first met bassist Tim Bogert while both performed with psyhedelic band Vanilla Fudge. Carmine Appice and Tim created a unique harmony as the backdrop for the groupís high-volume sound. They recorded five albums with Vanilla Fudge before departing to create Cactus, a blues rock quartet with Rusty Day on vocals and Jim McCarty on guitar. Appice and Bogert later left Cactus to form a powerful trio with Jeff Beck ñ Beck, Bogert, and Appice. These experiences coupled with his innate skill made Carmine Appice a highly sought-after session drummer as well. After auditioning more than forty drummers, Rod Stewart invited Carmine Appice to join him on tour. Carmine Appice spent seven years with Stewart, during the peak of Stewart's fame and fortune.

After touring with Rod Stewart, Carmine Appice took a break to pursue independent interests. He released a solo album, Rockers, and he promoted it touring the U.S. and Japan. Carmine Appice next joined King Kobra and recorded two albums and toured internationally.

While working with Vanilla Fudge, Carmine Appice authored the first instructional drum book written by an actual rock drummer, The Realistic Rock Drum Method. It is still a best-selling drum manual today and voted one of the top 25 drum books of all time by Modern Drummer magazine. Carmine Appice was the first rock drummer to conduct international clinics and symposiums on college campuses, theaters, and music stores. Now Carmine Appice teaches clinics and master classes to record-breaking crowds around the world. He plans to release The Children's Book of Rhythm soon with the goal of teaching children the basics. Carmine created the company Power Rock, and now he produces and markets instructional videos.

Carmine Appice received numerous awards for best contemporary drummer and best rock drummer. Immortalized in 1991 with induction into the Hollywood Rock Walk, Carmine's handprints and signature now lay next to his idols Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich alongside John Bonham, Keith Moon, Ginger Baker, and Alex Van Halen.

In 2000, Carmine Appice and Tim Bogert reunited and joined Vince Martell for two performances as Vanilla Fudge. Then they toured Japan with Japanese guitar legend Char. Later that year, Carmine and Tim joined forces with Rick Derringer and worked on a classic hard rock album called Doing Business As....
