Biography

 
 
Born in Madrid, Spain, in 1979, Alvaro Arista developed an almost immediate love of music. Starting out in the school choir at the age of six, Alvaro Arista moved on to study classical guitar and percussion. Alvaro Arista eventually moved to London, where he studied Music Performance and Technology. Alvaro Arista travelled to Cuba in summer 2003, to study Afro-Cuban rhythm. Once there, Alvaro Arista studied under Betun (Luis Valiente Marin), the well known and hugely respected percussionist for Cachao Lopez (Buena Vista Social Club).

Alvaro Arista has played in a number of bands with a wide range of styles including funk, rock, blues, jazz, Latin, and hip hop. His reputation as a skillfully diverse drummer made him a sensation in London. Alvaro Arista was snatched up by Second Person in mid-2004.
